Last year, an article covering the Sea King helicopter in service with the German Naval Aviation was published on this website, that can be found here. For the upcoming retirement, Sea King 89+58 received a special farewell colour scheme to mark the occasion. In May 2024, aviationreview.online joined an air-to-air photo flight in which not only this particular helicopter participated, but Sea King 89+63 joined as well. This one sports a special retro colour scheme, applied in 2023. Even an NH90 Sea Lion briefly joined the party; this type has replaced the Sea King with Marinefliegergeschwader 5 in the Search-and-Rescue role.
